Roderick Wylie is a Chartered Secretary and was appointed as the firm's first Chief Executive in 2004. He is responsible for managing the firm and developing the practice. His main management responsibilities including business planning, IT, marketing, personnel and office services.

Roderick has extensive management experience in the public, private and voluntary sectors and sits on various voluntary Boards connected with his main interest, music.

Andrew Stephen is head of the Property Department at Murray Beith Murray. He specialises in advising clients on buying and selling residential properties and has particular expertise in the Edinburgh property market.

Graham Scott is Head of the Private Client Department at Murray Beith Murray. He specialises in Asset Protection work, with more than 16 years experience in estate and tax planning. Graham has particular interest in dealing with offshore trusts and foreign property.

Ruthven Gemmell

Ruthven Gemmell is a partner specialising in a broad range of private client issues, investment management and financial planning. He is a dual qualified solicitor (Scotland and England/Wales).

Ruthven is the immediate past President of The Law Society of Scotland. He is a member of the Financial Services and Markets, VAT and Duties and Pensions Regulator Tribunals. Ruthven also has Fellowship of the Securities and Investment Institute and membership of the Personal Finance Society and the Society of Trust and Estate Practicioners (STEP).

John Scott Moncrieff

John Scott Moncrieff has been with the firm for 30 years and is the Client Relationship Partner. He specialises in asset protection and general financial planning for a wide portfolio of clients throughout the UK.

Active in the Arts, John is also a part-time lecturer and tutor to Law Diploma students at the University of Edinburgh.

Carole Hope heads the Executry Group within the firm, where she advises clients on dealing with and transferring assets in the event of a death. Carole also specialises in Wills and estate planning and has an interest in aspects of cross-border succession.

Carole is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and a board member of the Franco-British Lawyers Society.

Sandy Burnett specialises in residential property purchases and sales, with extensive experience in negotiating and marketing property. One of the first Scottish solicitors to pioneer the “expat investor” market 20 years ago, he regularly visited the Far East and Dubai organising Scottish Property Road Shows.

Sandy is a director of The Edinburgh Academy.

George Burns is the firm's Finance Director. He is responsible for the entire finance function, which includes the Cash Room and Book-keeping groups.

George is a qualified Chartered Accountant, and was formerly in public practice as an Accountant.

Jill Andrew

Jill Andrew is an Associate in the Residential Property Group dealing with residential sale and purchase transactions, as well as associated property matters. Jill has extensive experience of re-mortgage work for a major High Street lender.

Richard Black

Associate

Richard Black is an Associate, working in both the Residential and Rural Property Groups. He joined the firm as a trainee in 1981, began specialising in rural property matters in 1985 and was made Associate in 1992.

Gregor Buick

Gregor Buick

Associate

Gregor Buick specialises in Rural Property, dealing with all legal aspects involved in the sale, purchase and on-going management. He has particular experience in the commercial aspects of rural property, including sales to property developers, windfarm schemes and other commercial land diversification.

Gregor is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a member of the Society of Legal Scholars, and a former tutor in conveyancing on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Aberdeen.

Neil Ritchie is responsibile for the Tax Group at Murray Beith Murray. He specialises in tax compliance and private client tax planning issues, ranging from structuring property transactions to estate planning. Neil is a qualified chartered accountant.

Gail Mitchell

Gail Mitchell

Business Development Manager

Gail Mitchell is the Business Development Manager and responsible for the firm’s client care and business development activities. Her role includes managing and improving client service and training staff on client care, co-ordinating marketing campaigns, PR activities and events, and managing 'front of house'.
